A/Prof Michael Jones is a dedicated radiation oncologist who is committed to achieving the best outcomes for his patients.

Biography

Clinical Associate Professor Michael Jones is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Hobart. He attained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Australian National University. He completed radiation oncology training in New South Wales and achieved fellowship of the RANZCR in 2016. Michael subsequently undertook a clinical research fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada. He has a Master of Public Health and a PhD in Medicine.

Michael is also a staff specialist radiation oncologist and Director of Training at the Royal Hobart Hospital. He has an appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor within the Tasmanian School of Medicine at the University of Tasmania. Michael is a member of the executive committee of the Faculty of Radiation Oncology Genito-Urinary Group (FROGG). He has a strong interest in research and clinical trials. Michael has been awarded several competitive research grants and published in leading international radiation oncology journals. He is principal investigator of a number of active clinical trials in Hobart.

Michael treats a broad range of cancers including prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, brain cancer, lymphoma and gastrointestinal cancer (oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, colon, rectum and anal canal).
