Biography
Dr St.John Newman is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Gold Coast University Hospital, Gold Coast Private, Springfield and Greenslopes.
Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, Dr Newman completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) at the University of Queensland. He worked as a pharmacist for four years before and during his medical training. In 2014, Dr Newman completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Melbourne. He subsequently undertook specialist radiation oncology training at the North Coast Cancer Institute in New South Wales and Icon Cancer Centre Gold Coast University Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital in Queensland. He is also a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR).
Dr Newman is trained in the use of cutting-edge radiation therapy treatments and maintains an active involvement in clinical research and trials to inform and continually improve the care provided to his patients. Dr Newman has a subspecialty interest in head and neck cancers including mucosal and complex cutaneous disease, malignant and benign CNS tumours and thoracic cancers. He is also credentialled in intracranial SRT, spine SABR, lung SABR and bone SABR.
