Dr Cristina Moldovan is an experienced medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Hobart, specialising in a range of solid tumour malignancies including melanoma, skin cancers, gynaecological malignancies, head and neck cancer, genitourinary cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.
Driven by a commitment to personalised and patient-centred care, Dr Moldovan established the first private multidisciplinary meeting (MDM) in Tasmania in 2019, specifically catering to melanoma and skin cancer patients. This collaborative initiative, supported by colleagues from various specialties including plastic surgeons, GP skin specialists, private radiology, pathology and patient support groups, promotes a holistic approach to patient management.
Dr Moldovan completed her specialist training at renowned cancer care institutions in Victoria, including the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Research Institute and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. She also received valuable training at the Royal Hobart Hospital, where she has been dedicatedly serving for the past few years.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Moldovan actively engages in clinical research, showcasing her dedication to advancing cancer treatment. She looks forward to introducing clinical trials to Icon Cancer Centre Hobart and collaborating with institutions like the Menzies Institute. Dr Moldovan is an active member of esteemed professional organisations and collaborative groups including the Melanoma and Skin Cancer (MASC) group, Australia New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group (ANZGOG), and other Australian collaborative groups dedicated to enhancing cancer care and research.
Dr Moldovan’s contributions extend globally with her affiliations to the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). These affiliations provide her with valuable opportunities for ongoing education, networking, and staying abreast of the latest advancements in cancer treatment and research. Alongside her practice at Icon, she consults and treats patients at Royal Hobart Hospital, and Hobart Private Hospital.
