Biography

Dr Elango Pillai is a clinical haematologist and BMT physician with Icon Cancer Centre Chermside. He is also staff specialist in the Department of Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Dr Pillai cares for a wide range of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders including acute and chronic leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma and autologous/allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He has an ongoing keen interest in clinical research and is a co-investigator in a number of clinical trials in leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. He has publications in the areas of acute leukaemia, and allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Dr Pillai is also a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and continues to be involved in teaching medical students and physician trainees.
