Biography
Dr Kate Martin is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Maitland. Born and raised in Newcastle, she originally began her medical training as a radiation therapist, earning her Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (RT) from University of Newcastle in 2003. After working at the Calvary Mater Newcastle in 2004, Dr Martin began her radiation oncology career at the University of Newcastle, graduating with her Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) in 2009.
Dr Martin subsequently began her specialist radiation oncology training at the Hunter New England Health Service. In 2013, Dr Martin returned to Calvary Mater Newcastle where she completed her advanced training in radiation oncology, gaining extensive experience in managing a broad range of cancers.
Her clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with a special interest in breast cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynaecological cancers, lung cancer and skin cancers, as well as stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) and palliative radiation therapy.
