Professor Shankar Siva is an internationally renowned radiation oncologist at the forefront of cutting-edge radiotherapy, recognised globally for pioneering advances in stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) and precision oncology.  As one of the most in-demand global opinion leaders in radiotherapy, he is frequently invited to share his expertise on the latest radiotherapy techniques and clinical innovations with patients and professionals worldwide.

Biography

Prof Shankar Siva is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Richmond, Holmesglen, Freemasons, Moreland, and Mulgrave.

Prof Siva is a global pioneer in high-technology radiation therapy delivery, particularly stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SABR).

He has made significant contributions to cancer care at an international level, and his work has been recognised by independent global rankingsisted below) as a leading voice in oncology. He has a particular interest in prostate, lung and kidney cancers, as well as oligometastatic disease. He has special expertise with the Cyberknife, having undergone training in the USA, Switzerland, France and Germany.

Prof Siva leads multiple clinical trials and is chair of the largest number of TransTasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) studies of any clinician-scientist in Australia. He has designed and led 15 cutting-edge investigator-initiated clinical trials in lung, kidney, prostate, and spinal malignancies. Amongst other international leadership roles, he is a Board Directeorat the Radiosurgery Society (RSS, formerly Cyberknife Society), is Chair of the Advanced Radiotherapy Technology committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and is on the Science Council of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

He has over 350 peer-reviewed manuscript publications, including the first original research from Australia on the use of SABR. He is regularly invited to present as an expert national and international speaker in his field, having given lectures at over 150 national and international scientific meetings. Prof Siva has been recognised by his peers with over 20 prizes for research in the field of oncology.
