Prof Shankar Siva is a highly experienced, compassionate radiation oncologist, committed to achieving the best possible outcome for his patients. He has a strong focus on implementing advanced radiation therapy techniques within personalised treatment plans for patients in his care.

Biography

Prof Shankar Siva is a radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Richmond, Holmesglen, Freemasons, Moreland, and Mulgrave. He completed his PhD within the Molecular Radiation Biology laboratory at the internationally renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, focusing on translational investigations in precision high-dose lung radiation therapy.

Prof Siva is a global pioneer in high-technology radiation therapy delivery, particularly stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SABR). He has over 300 peer-reviewed manuscript publications, including the first original research from Australia on the use of SABR. He is regularly invited to present as an expert national and international speaker in his field, having given lectures at over 150 national and international scientific meetings. Prof Siva has been recognised by his peers with over 20 prizes for research in the field of oncology.

Prof Siva leads multiple clinical trials and is chair of the largest number of TransTasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) studies of any clinician-scientist in Australia. He has designed and led 15 cutting-edge investigator-initiated clinical trials in lung, kidney, prostate, and spinal malignancies. Amongst other international leadership roles, he is a board director of the Radiosurgery Society (RSS), a committee member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Multidisciplinary Science Committee and is on the Science Council of the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).
